Neck Pain

The holidays will be here before we know it! If you are suffering from neck pain, you’re probably dreading the fact that you’ve got to leave your heating pad or ice pack behind and wondering how you are going to enjoy dinner with the family. At Beemer Back Center, we pride ourselves in providing our patients with pain relief and correcting the cause of the pain. Here’s how we can help you find freedom from neck pain.

What is Neck Pain?

Your neck, which is a bridge between your torso and head and allows for motion of the head, is made up of seven vertebra supported by many ligaments and muscles. Neck pain most commonly occurs when the ligaments, muscles, and joints in the neck become inflamed and irritated.

Neck pain has a broad range from minor and easily ignored to debilitating. When combined with other symptoms, it can be an indicator as to whether or not immediate medical attention is needed. Common symptoms include:

  • Limited range of motion and stiffness
  • Sharp or stabbing pain in a concentrated area
  • General tenderness or soreness
  • Radiating pain, that leads from the neck to shoulders, arms, fingers and head

You’ve most likely experienced some form of neck pain in your lifetime, but it is not something that has to be tolerated. About 17% of the adult population suffers from neck pain and discomfort at any given moment. In many of these instances, neck pain is due to abnormal sleeping positions, injuries or falls, poor posture, looking at our cell phone, and whiplash. In very rare cases, neck pain is caused by infections, tumors, growth abnormalities, and even cancer.

No matter what level of pain you are experiencing, you don’t have to take it anymore. Neck pain can be very serious  and should be taken seriously.

How Can Chiropractic Help?

Chiropractic can be an excellent tool for managing and relieving swelling and decreased range of motion caused by neck pain. Chiropractic care, when done properly and regularly, provides patients with a non-invasive, non-addictive safe alternative to prescription medications. These drugs are commonly prescribed to those dealing with pain.  Unfortunately they only mask the symptoms rather than treat the problem.

As a chiropractor, my goal is to  deliver gentle and effective adjustments. These adjustments reduce misalignments or joint restrictions in the spine. This helps reduce inflammation and improve function of the nervous system and the affected joints. When joint mobility is improved, along with nervous system function and spinal health, the body is better able to manage discomfort in the neck. My patients have enjoyed these benefits from receiving regular chiropractic adjustments:

  • Increased activity and lifestyle improvements
  • Reduced pain and discomfort
  • Better flexibility
  • Decreased inflammation
  • Improved range of motion

Don’t let neck pain get in the way of enjoying your holidays, much less everyday life!

Yours in health
